First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa will soon officially open the Chambuta Children’s Home with organizations, individuals and local authorities coming to help her after being inspired by her efforts to see a better life for the children who lived on the streets.
Amai Mnangagwa, through her Angel of Hope Foundation, whose vision is to improve the lives of underprivileged children and other vulnerable members of society, identified Chambuta Children’s Home in Chiredzi where former street children from major towns in the countries have been displaced.
Steps to transform the house into a full-fledged rehabilitation center where children are educated and equipped with life skills to fend for themselves are underway, thanks to the mother of the nation.
There is also a significant infrastructure development underway at the center.
Among the organizations that have reached out to the First Lady’s vision is the Gift of Givers Foundation which yesterday donated an assortment of groceries, toiletries and bedspreads to the Foundation. Angel of Hope for onward transmission to the home.
The donation included corn flour, rice, sugar beans, salt, sugar, cooking oil, fruit juices, body lotions, laundry and bath soap, bedspreads and pillows.
In presenting the donation yesterday, National Director of Gift of Givers, Ms. Shaida Kara, paid a heartfelt tribute to the First Lady who spares no effort to alleviate the plight of vulnerable members of society.
“We would like to thank you Amai, the First Lady for your efforts in favor of the rehabilitation of former street children. You are changing the lives of these children.
“We love the work you do, you are an absolute inspiration to all of us. To support your initiative, we are happy to donate these goods and we hope it will go a long way in helping these children. Thank you very much”, a she declared.
In her acceptance speech, the First Lady thanked the Gift of Givers Foundation for this kind gesture.
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome you here to receive a donation from the Gift of Givers Foundation through the Mayor’s Cheer Fund for Chambuta Children’s home.
“As you know, the main values of the foundation are to help marginalized people achieve a better standard of living for themselves, access to health care for the general population of the country, assistance to people the elderly, the disadvantaged and the empowerment of women, youth and children in society.
“As a result, the modus operandi of the Angel of Hope Foundation is broad and covers almost all social groups in our country, so it is always refreshing when other charities such as Gift of Givers support the work the foundation has dedicated. his existence.
“I founded Chambuta Children’s Home with the city of Harare and all the mayors of the 10 provinces of our country with the aim of giving children living and working on the streets another chance to rewrite their history.
“These children apparently come from all the provinces of Zimbabwe and therefore work with the mayors of all the provinces,” she said.
The Chambuta children’s home, said the First Lady, offers social and cultural rehabilitation to these children while simultaneously sending them to school so that they can learn.
She said she found out that the children were very good at school.
“Your support is important because it will especially help our children at Chambuta Children’s Home. I would like to thank the mayor’s incentive fund for passing on Gift of Givers for their donation of groceries.
“You (the mayor) have continually supported the Angel of Hope Foundation and I hope you will support us gradually and continuously. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage fellow Zimbabweans local and overseas to be the keeper of their brother and sister.
“No donation is too small or too big as it will help vulnerable people tremendously. Donors’ Donation Foundation, I want to thank you wholeheartedly and that you are also a foundation and that you know what the work involves , while God bless you, ”she said.
Acting Harare City Councilor Stewart Mutizwa said he supported the work of the First Lady and encouraged those with the capacity to help those in need.
“As the city of Harare, we will never tire of partnering with your Amai vision. The needy are there and they need our hand and we will continue to help you. These children need shelter and they have also need the love you give them.
“I want to thank the donation from donors for honoring our calling and it will go a long way and God will truly bless the hand that gives. I want to thank you Amai for receiving us and giving us this opportunity to share and also to donate.
“As the city of Harare, we will continue to play our part. When you call, we will answer all of those calls and remember that we are in fact together. It is the duty of not only the First Lady, not only mayor, but everyone must take part in helping those most in need, ”said the mayor.
The First Lady has publicly stated that it is her prayer every day that the children at the center work hard so that they can have a better future and not go back to their old ways.
