FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Jack Cecil, the co-founder of Zyyah, a digital home management company, offers some advice for homebuyers in the DFW area who are about to purchase home insurance as well.

There are basically two types of insurance policies that homeowners should be aware of: replacement cost policies and cash value policies.

He advises a replacement cost policy is the best option for most homeowners.

He also says that those entering North Texas from out of state should be aware of the type of volatile weather that can plague our area.
They are advised to insure their home against different types of storms, as the DFW region sees it all.
In addition, he recommends that a buyer obtain their insurance from a local person who understands these weather conditions.
“Here in Texas we have a lot of wind related claims, or a lot of roof claims, or a lot of flood claims,” Cecil said. “These specific carriers where someone is from California – they won’t want to buy insurance potentially with the same carrier from California, because that California carrier will be more suited to earthquakes and fires, and things that mostly happen in California versus California.
